Our theme for 2016 is "For Such a Time as This," taken from Esther 4:14, as Mordecai instructs Esther to go before the king on behalf of the Jews, telling her, "And who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?" Knowing it could mean serious consequences for her personally, Esther promised to take her petitions first to God and then to the king, vowing, "If I perish, I perish."
In America, we find ourselves in similar circumstances. With an election year, it is more important than ever that we do our part. The call is not for casual Christians or consumer Christians but for consecrated Christians. So it is to the cause that we commit ourselves, understanding that we have come to the kingdom for such a time as this. What a privilege that God has chosen us to live in these last days!
Men and women and young people are needed for the task. It's time to speak up for our beliefs, to vote according to godly principles, to encourage others to do the same, to be more committed to church, and to carry the gospel to a lost world. With God's help, we take this challenge "For Such a Time as This."
