Soulwinning is the Key

Lately, we have rearranged our visitation schedule for the summer and have found it to work really well. We have moved our Thursday night visitation to Wednesday. We meet for dinner from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Then we go out visting and come back for our mid-week service starting at 7:30. This is very beneficial for several reasons. First of all, it provides another night at home for family. Secondly, it helps those ladies that usually have to get home, get supper ready, and then make it on time for church. Thirdly, it saves on gas prices. Fourthly, it creates such an electricity in the air for the prayer meeting service. Folks are coming in from giving out the gospel and with that comes the blessings of the Lord.

Last week my wife Trish, and one of my deacon's wives, Raven Williams, won a lady to the Lord and her two children. This family was in church just an hour later after they had been saved. Just think, brand new Christians in church for the first time since they had been saved. The church was excited and was encouraged to see the gospel at work.

The key to this is to have great participation. We should all be soul conscious. Soulwinning is the key to everything. We are not going to win everyone, but we must be faithful in presenting the gospel. God is good... let's tell the world about our wonderful Jesus.

The Glory of Children

It is early Sunday morning, June 15, "Father's Day." In just a little while I will bring a message to our church to hopefully challenge our people on this festive day. The Bible says in the book of Proverbs, chapter seventeen and verse six: "the glory of children are their fathers." I remember growing up that my dad was the strongest and the toughest man in the world. He is now eighty-one years old and I still have the utmost respect for him. I have seen him battle cancer when his body was seized by its grip, and win. His faith never wavered that God was going to heal him.

Early this morning one of my staff men, and a dear friend, called me from the grave site of his father that we buried just four months ago. He was weeping and hurting, missing his best friend. They did everything together, and now for just a little while they have been separated. A few years ago I had the glorious privilege of winning Mr. Bill Correll to Christ. It was such a blessing to encourage my friend of the news that he would see him again, and without his wheelchair that had become his companion.

On this day, honor your father and give him love and respect. It matters not of the closeness of your relationship. Do what the Bible says and give him honor. I want my dad to know how much I love him and appreciate his walk with God. In today's service he will open up our service with prayer, and oh, how I love to hear him pray. I am sure the day will come when I would love to hear him pray again.

Today is like every day, a great day to serve the Lord. Let's celebrate this day with our fathers. You might not have a father that has any thought for God. Don't add sin to sin and make the same mistake. Live for Jesus and make your children proud!
