Revival Review

What a great week! Dr. Paul Kingsbury brought four great messages this past week beginning Sunday morning. Every message was right on target and he helped our church. The last night of the revival we began the service by having a Thanksgiving dinner for all who attended. Brother Nathan Holt and his staff did a superb job putting the dinner together. After supper we moved to the gymnasium for our last service. The atmosphere was festive and a revival spirit was in the air. The choir sang, "I'm On The Winning Side," and what a blessing it was. The Meeks and Matthews joined voices to make a wonderful quartet. Dr. Kingsbury then preached out of 1 Corinthians 12 on, "No Schisms in the Body." I can still see him crawling on his knees illustrating the rebellion of the feet. What a great message!

Now it's time to take what was placed in our hearts and move into action. I love our church and God's blessings are evident. On December 3, Dr. Don Sisk will be preaching to give our missions program a jump-boost. We already support close to 250 missionaries monthly, and we want to reach new heights for God. Dr. Sisk has been a friend for a long time and I am looking forward to hearing him preach. Then on December 10, in the evening service, Dr. Chris Haizlip will be passing through our area and I have asked him to preach that night. Brother Haizlip has a wonderful church in Statesville, North Carolina. I am sure he will stir our hearts!

Great things are happening at PBC. Let's all get on board and reach a lost world for Christ. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with time for family and fellowship. Remember that this preacher loves you. Never lose sight that . . . "It Pays to Serve God!"

REVIVAL

A year ago I was in church at Lancaster Baptist Church in Lancaster, California. I had preached there on Sunday and was going to attend the annual Pastor's Retreat Thursday through Saturday which Dr. Chappell so graciously hosts.

On Wednesday evening Brother Chappell had invited Dr. Paul Kingsbury to speak for their mid-week prayer meeting service. Brother Kingsbury pastors in Rockford, Illinois. He spoke to my heart in a definite matter. In fact, as soon as the service was over I made a bee-line to the platform to invite him to Peoples Baptist Church so that our whole church could hear this inspiring man of God.

I am so excited that Dr. Kingsbury graciously consented to speak to our church family. I am excited for others to receive the blessing I received over one year ago. That revival starts this Sunday. I am diligently praying for revival. I need it, our church needs it, and our country needs it. An old-fashioned outpouring of the Holy Spirit of God should be felt outside the walls of our church. I am asking our folks to pray for revival at PBC. God is so good to us. Let's reciprocate His blessings by serving Him with more fervency in our walk with God. Please help me pray for a heaven-sent revival!

God is so good!

NEWS ON MONICA

We have received many calls concerning our 21-year-old daughter Monica who has suffered for four years with post-herpetic neuralgia (nerve damage from shingles). We can’t thank you enough for all of your concern and prayers in this regard.

During the month of July while we were in California on vacation, several preachers (Dr. Paul Chappell, Dr. David Gibbs, Dr. R. B. Ouellette, Pastor Tim Butler, Missionary Rick Martin, myself, and others) joined together to anoint her with oil and pray for her healing. Monica is a beautiful, vivacious girl who never complains, but her living in constant pain has been a hard thing. Even with strong oral medications, she has worn pain patches and had to wrap in an electric ice wrap just to get through the day.

During the middle of the night a couple of days after she was anointed with oil, I believe the devil made one last attack on her life. Trish and I thought she was dying. It was a very long night; but since then, we have seen a miraculous answer to prayer. We give God the credit and the glory. Dr. Barry Sunshine, a doctor in Knoxville, has been a God-send in treating her.

It has been just like God to do exceeding abundantly above all we could ask or think. While we were hoping for some medicine that would help her, God is healing her without medication. She is getting better and better, and we praise the Lord.

Thank you for your prayers and concerns for her and for us. You have been an encouragement to us.
