"Iron Sharpeneth Iron"

Our theme for this year comes from Proverbs 27:17 where the Word of God says: “Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.” I would like for this verse to motivate each of us to strive for excellence in 2008. Our theme will be “Iron Sharpeneth Iron.” Dr. Clarence Sexton told me one time that you cut more wood in less time with a sharp axe. How true that is! We should do all that we can this year to sharpen the axe. It is much easier to get hurt working with dull tools since we have to work harder and longer just in hopes of keeping up. We will become tired and frustrated and fall behind unless we sharpen the tools which God has given us.

God is moving at Peoples Baptist Church, and we need to be at our best so that we will not miss out on what He has for us. My staff has worked diligently to put together a calendar of events to help you in scheduling for the year. When you plan your summer vacation, your family outings, or even just some time for yourself, keep the church in mind. Do your best to help the ministry of PBC to be sharp. Every service, come to the church asking God to sharpen us for the task ahead. I will be asking God the same for my life. I want to be a preacher, pastor, family man, and friend, with a sharp edge for God. If we work together, striving for excellence, with a sharp edge, we will accomplish much more for Christ. I am asking the Lord to help us to have a great year in 2008. Let’s sharpen one another for God’s honor and glory!
